VETERANS' CHRISTMAS DAY 13TH DECEMBER

The weather forecast for the week suggests that WE MAY have some inclement weather on Thursday.

The luncheon will go ahead regardless and we are committed to pay for the number of players already registered to play plus those attending the luncheon but not playing.

I am seeking your support to the luncheon regardless of what may confront us on Thursday as non attendance will prove costly.

2012 Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting which was to be held on Thursday 22nd November 2012 was deferred as the numbers required were not sufficient (100 members) as per our Constitution 8.7.

The meeting will now be held on Thursday 29th November at 7.30pm DST in the Members Lounge.

Under the Constitution 8.7, "if at such adjourned meeting a quorum is not present, the full voting members who are present shall be a quorum and may transact the business for which the meeting was called".

For and on behalf of the Board of Directors
Phillip P. Dark
General/Secretary Manager

Wednesday, 21 November 2012

Attention Members
1. After lengthy discussion and improved pace of play, the match committee has decided to remove the compulsory call-ups from all Par 3’s. However we do ask that common sense is used and calling up is still an option if the next tee is occupied, or there are groups starting to bank up on the tee.

2. We will continue to monitor the pace of play, yes it has improved, which i think everyone is enjoying, however all we ask is that you maintain your place in the field by keeping up with the group in front. If this means marking cards after teeing off, or a slightly shorter break at 1/2 way, then it becomes the responsibility of the group behind to keep up with you.

3. The lack of the use of rakes in the bunkers is also a concern, please consider your fellow golfers when leaving a bunker, if you rake it the way you would like to find it, hopefully everybody else will follow suit.

Good Golfing

Becky Kay - 13 years old - Ladies Champion and a future star!

24 Nations will be competing in the Youth Olympics in Sydney in January 2013. Golf Australia has selected 13 year old CTHGC Member - Becky Kay to represent Australia in a 72 hole stroke event at Twin Creeks Golf Club.  The Australian team will compete against teams from Argentina, Japan, Korea, China NZ, GB and Chinese Taipei.  The games will encompass an opening ceremony and all the teams will reside in the Olympic Village.  A great experience for her and all the other competitors.

Becky came 7th at the Aaron Baddeley Australian Championships held at the Heritage Golf Club in Melbourne.   She recently competed in the Jack Newton International in Newcastle and came 2nd in the under 14’s and 8th overall in a very strong field including teams from the USA and NZ.

Becky has also been invited to the launch day of the Future State Greats Program at Royal Pines and this will involve a round of golf with Australian cricket legend Ian Healy.   She has also won an award for Athlete of Year in the golf Program at the Gold Coast Academy of Sport.

Golf Australia has invited Becky to be one of 5 golfers from Queensland to attend the National Camp at Moonah Links next month as a future National squad member.  The camp is for adults, not just for the under 18’s.  They hold educational sessions with guest speakers in preparation for life as a professional golfer, she will have access to a number of Golf Australia service providers as well as National Coaches and will attend Day 3 of the Australian Masters at Kingston Heath.

Congratulations Becky on these tremendous achievements and we all wish you good luck for a very exciting future.
