Dee Dee Russell, one our very talented Junior girls competed in the QLD State School Golf Championships held in Toowoomba recently. The event was held over 4 days and the conditions were cold and wet. But despite this, Dee Dee won the event and is now the QLD School Girls Champion.
DeeDee has been invited to play as a member of the Queensland School Sport Golf Team at the Australian School Championships in Perth at the end of August.
We all wish her well in her golfing endeavours.
This blog has been created to inform our Members of all things related to playing the game of golf at our Club.

The Doctors were planning to sponsor the 4BBB event on the River course today but due to the weather it has been postponed to a later date. The River course today is now a single stableford event.
And the rain continues.......
There are not many players out on the courses this morning due to that persistant light rain. Please be aware there are no buggies on the West course as previously mentioned but buggies are allowed on the River course today for the Men's competition, if you are feeling adventurous!

No West Buggies
At tonight’s Golf Management Meeting it was decided to make the call to have NO motorised buggies on the West course for the rest of this week – Wednesday July 11, Thursday July 12 and Friday July 13. The course is exceptionally wet and there is already significant damage from buggies, both motorised and walking and at this time of year there is virtually no scope for turf recovery. The forecast is also for a 90% chance of 10 – 15 mm on both Thursday and Friday, and unfortunately that weather website has been very accurate of late.
The call on motorised buggies status on the River course will still be made on a day to day basis with the Club website being updated by 5.30am daily.

Go Scott
Hopefully our post last week spurred Scott Gardiner on as he had another tie for 4th in the latest Web.com tournament at the Victoria National GC in Indiana. With temperatures hovering over the 100 degrees mark each day and in fact reaching 105 on the Saturday Scott was able to navigate his way around this tough Tom Fazio designed course that one day hopes to host a US Open. Scott stormed home with a final day best round bogey free 6 under 66 to finish 2 shots behind the winner. Most importantly the effort also moved Scott up to 22 on "The 25" money winners list.
Volunteers for Week of Golf
This year the Week of Golf runs from Monday 30th July to Friday 3rd August and tournament organisers are seeking volunteers to assist on the course in a number of areas as has been done for many years. If you can give a few hours of your time on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday it would be most welcome (morning or afternoon), response in the past has been terrific so please lend a hand to ensure this great event is again the best Week of Golf in the state. There will be a sheet up in the members lounge from this Thursday to record your name and time that suits best.
